The Endless Earth

Moslehuddin Mahdavi, a researcher and Isfahanologist, has written:

Centuries before Islam, when Bokht-o-Nasr, harassed the Jewish people and removed them from Palestine, Cyrus, the Achaemenid king of Iran, rescued them from Babylonians’ captivity and allowed them to come to Iran.

Some of them settled in Isfahan. Two of their religious leaders and prophets named Joshua and Isaiah lived in Isfahan and also died and were buried there.

Allameh Jalal al-Din Homaei, a researcher, scientist and Isfahanologist, also wrote the following about Takht-e Foulad:

“It is unique in its kind and nothing similar to it can be found anywhere else in Iran. It is a collection of magnificent mansions, which is no less than the Safavid mosques and schools in regard to the variety of fine arts it includes.
The industrial intelligence and the aesthete taste of the people of Isfahan in creating art has also affected the cemetery and turned it into a collection of beautiful tall mansions, flowered gardens, green and luxuriant trees, and fresh vibrant ponds and cisterns. All these reduce the grief of visiting the cemetery and praying for the dead. This way, it’s become rejuvenating and turned into a famous promenade for the people of Isfahan. Takht-e Foulad is a recreational place and also a place for worship and asceticism. It is both sad and lively. The existence of mansions influences the spirit of the wise in a special way. Takht-e Foulad is the eternal sanctuary of thousands of eminent figures, who have reposed there for five to six centuries.”
