The Last Paraph of the 1st Pahlavi

Since an important part of the Pahlavi’s history, meaning King Reza Pahlavi’s dethronement and delegation of the monarchy to his son King Mohammadreza in 1941 took place in Isfahan, Allameh Jalal Al-din Homaie, describes that important part of the history as follows: “On August 26, 1941, the royal family including men and women, except for the King and his son, as ordered by the King had gone to Isfahan along with the Minister, Mahmoud Jam.

At that time, Amir Nosrat Eskandari was Isfahan’s General- Governor and Colonel Sheri was Isfahan’s Garrison Commander. On August 27, 1941 they entered Isfahan and landed at Colonel Sheri’s house. The after that night that was August 27, 1941, they were moved to Mirza Jafar Kazerouni’s house located in the Northern Zayanderoud’s shore and until September 21, 1941 they stayed at his place.

However, on September 15, 1941, King Reza Pahlavi himself was forced by the Russians and British to resign from his kingship and to transfer his monarchy to his son, King Mohammadreza. On September 16, 1941, he left Tehran to go to Isfahan; at 5 in the afternoon of that same day he entered Isfahan near his family.

On the way, his personal automobile broke down, and entered Kazerouni’s house with the Governor-General’s automobile, whom had come to pick him up along with Colonel Sheri. The King’s resignation letter was drafted by Mr. Foroughi in a manner as if the King had written it himself and he had it signed by the King on the round white marble table at the Sardar-e Sangi mansion.

King Reza along with his royal family stayed in Isfahan until September 22, 1941 and late morning of that day they left Isfahan, and reached Naein at noon and ate lunch at a small kitchen at the Gendarmerie station. Thereafter, from Naein they went to Yazd and Kerman and from there they left the border of Iran”.
