One of the highest minarets in Isfahan is the “Ali Mosque” minaret. This monument was built during the time of Sultan Sanjar Seljuki. About the minarets and rods of Isfahan, there are many folk tales.

A story about the Ali mosque’s minaret says: “one day Sultan Sanjar was passing through this area that was a hill at that time. At the same time, a child named Ali was also passing by. The King thought that the child was a hunt and so he shot him. When the King realizes what has happened he becomes regretful and calls for the child’s father and tells him: “I’ll give you whatever you want.” Ali’s father says: “I don’t want anything; I just want a mosque to be built in this area with high a minaret.” The Sultan orders to build a mosque there and names it Ali.
