The Far-Sighted Entrepreneur

Touba Garden reminds the people of Isfahan of Hossein Hamedanian, the renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist of Isfahan, who is buried in the garden’s grounds.

He is the founder of one of the oldest cement factories of Iran, which was established in 1955 AD (1334 SH).

It is said that when he was talking to his German consultant about the construction of the cement factory in Isfahan, the consultant engineer expressed his satisfaction with the nearby mines providing primary materials for the factory by saying that these mines will feed the company for the next 400 years.

But Hamedanian asked immediately: “Well, what are we going to do after those 400 years?”

And that is how after sixty years the wheels of this factory and also the Hamedanian Charity Foundation are still turning and helping the economy of this city and its people.

Other accomplishments of Hossein Hamedanian include the foundation of the weaving and knitting factory “Shahnaz” in 1950 AD (1329 SH), that was later renamed “Bafnaz” and the establishment of an animal husbandry unit in the Hassan-Abad District.

Moreover, he founded the Hamedanian Charity Foundation in 1963 AD (1342 SH) and also built a dormitory for the Isfahani students of Tehran University and donated it to the university in 1967 AD (1346 SH).
