Hexagon on the Shoulders

When it comes to the Muharram rituals of Kashan, the sixth day of Muharram is dedicated to carrying the hexagon, and on this day, no mourning group goes to the market as a sign of respect for the hexagon, and other mourning groups accompany the Ali-Akbari procession during this ritual, helping it in carrying the hexagon.

That is why the sixth day of Muharram has also been called the hexagon day.

The hexagon is a symbol of the hexagonal shrine and tomb of Imam Husayn (PBUH) and his son, Ali-Akbar.

The procession of Shahzadeh Ali-Akbar, which belongs to Imamzadeh Habib Musa in Kashan, has the responsibility of keeping the hexagon and then carrying it to the bazaar on the mentioned day.

The symbolic hexagon carried by the group consists of a shrine, two minarets, a golden dome, and four wheels, which are the means of its movement, and has been patterned after the shrine of Imam Husayn (PBUH) by one of the carpentry and woodcarving masters of Kashan.
