The owner of Naqshe Jahan Square

Saremodoleh, the son of Zellosoltan, being the grandson of Naserodin Shah and a descendant of Safavid bloodline, claimed himself to be the inheritor of Safavids. Hence, he claimed ownership of the Naqshe Jahan Square, which he believed to belong to the Safavid dynasty.

He registered a deed, and in order to avoid any trouble, he dedicated it to the Saremieh School. When the city municipality wanted to make some changes in the Square, they faced Saremodoleh’s disagreement. The disagreement escalated and went to the Ministry of Interior. A special agent from the ministry came to Isfahan, and after investigation acknowledged the ownership of Saremodoleh over the Square, according to the country’s laws. At the end, as no other resolution was found, the municipality rented the square from Saremodoleh for the duration of 99 years, and was to donate three hundred Tomans every month to the Saremieh School.
