There is a safavid house in the Homayoun garden neighborhood, around Chahar Bagh paeen street of Isfahan, which is known as Sheikh al eslam historical house.
Apparently this building was agift from Shah Abbas ii to his daughter ,Sarve Ghad khanum,on the occasion of her marriage to,Mohagegh-e Sabzevari who was a scholar of safavid period. Mohaghegh-e Sabzevari, Sah in Shah Abass ii period, was prominent Sheykh ol-islam in Isfahan.this house would has had more beauty in that time and could have been the best gift from the king for his daughter`s wedding. Of course the name of this house is derived from the landlords of that in Qajar and Safavid periods, that were Mohaghegh-e Sabzevari and Abu Abdullah who was known as Sheykh ol-islam Zanjani, who lived and taught in that house.
In Qajar era this house was a center for the people and also was something like the Judiciary, that in the time of Reza shah Pahlavi, Sheykh ol Islam turned it into a municipality. From the Safavid era mourning ceremony of Imam Hossein and Tazieh were held there twice a year. In the years before the revolution, this house was given to the Ministry of Culture and Art, these days Isfahan province cultural and tourism Heritage organization has repaired it and turn into Textile house and specialized traditional textile museum.
